Dutch betting operators are suspended due to banned markets

(AsiaGameHub) –   The Dutch gambling authority, Kansspelautoriteit, has warned several online betting firms for providing wagers on prohibited markets, such as bets on individual award winners like the MVP. While no specific companies were named, the regulator reaffirmed that only licensed operators may offer betting on match-related events or the final score.

Upon notification from the regulator, the involved operators promptly removed the non-compliant betting options. The KSA emphasized that all licensees must continuously evaluate their available markets and act without delay if any illicit offerings are identified.

The authority has previously cautioned operators against offering bets on players under 21 years of age, citing operators including bet365 and One Casino as examples that have been flagged for such unlawful bets.

The Kansspelautoriteit said:

Licence holders are ultimately responsible for their gaming products, even when utilising third-party platforms or sportsbook suppliers. Consequently, the KSA expects providers to perpetually oversee their offerings and implement suitable steps to bar forbidden bets. Should unauthorised wagers still be presented, they must be removed instantly. The KSA will maintain its supervision of licence holders’ gaming portfolios.

In an unrelated matter, the regulator also intervened against JOI Gaming’s Jacks brand for breaching advertising rules. The violation involved a logo link on the Professional Darts Corporation website directing users to Jacks’ gambling site. Following the KSA’s action, the link was taken down.

The regulator added:

After the KSA contacted Jacks about the breach, the link to the online gambling website was removed at once. The KSA stresses that licence holders are accountable for following all laws and regulations concerning gambling advertising. The regulator monitors provider compliance and employs the most effective measures to guarantee a fair and secure gambling market.

In summary, the regulator confirmed it would persist in applying strict compliance measures related to both betting operations and gambling advertising to uphold a fair and well-regulated market.
